About Sensory Room (1 Southwest)

The Sensory Space is for individual use by UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty. Designed for both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals, the space is intended to foster wellness, support academic success, and empower users to manage stimuli in ways that maximize individual well-being and learning. Users may reserve up to two 30-minute blocks per day using their SSO.

Policies

Users of Library Spaces are expected to follow all Library Policies as well as the UC San Diego Principles of Community. Do not leave personal belongings behind as the Library is not responsible for theft. This room is meant for de-stress use and is not designed for studying, socializing, or consumption of food. Misuse of the space may result in suspension of use privileges.

Library, security, or custodial staff may enter the space at any time and/or request reservation verification. Further guidelines here apply to all Sensory Space users and are enforceable by all Library employees. Misuse of the space may result in suspension of use privileges.

To help maintain the restorative environment, users of the space are expected to:

  • Have only one person in the room at a time; space is not intended as a traditional group study room Not share the access code with anyone
  • Limit use of the room to their confirmed reservation date(s) and time(s) so it is available for all
  • Refrain from eating in the space; drinking from bottles, cans, or lidded containers is allowed
  • Handle all furniture and amenities with care, cleaning up and putting everything in its place before leaving
  • Be considerate of noise, as the space is not soundproof nor intended for socializing
  • Not leave personal belongings unattended for any length of time; the Library is not liable for theft or damage
