Group Study Room Reservation

Overnight Study

Geisel: Overnight Study Commons (2nd Floor East)
Amenities/Features Policies/Details
  • For individual & group study (large tables & individual seating)
  • UC San Diego-only (Windows PCs and Macs)
  • Electrical outlets & wireless
  • Black/white printer & scanner
  • Typically open overnight Sunday through Thursday nights during regular terms

  • Conversation permitted
  • Services not available from 9:45 pm to 7:30 am
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies

Graduate Student Study

BLB: Graduate Study Lounge (1 st Floor Breezeway)

Limited to graduate students in all disciplines with pre-authorized access

  • Individual graduate student study (lounge seating, some larger tables, & individual seating)
  • Electrical outlets & wireless
  • Printer
  • Pre-authorization required
  • Conversation permitted in smaller room of the lounge
  • Cell phone use not permitted
  • 24-Hour access, excluding library and campus closures
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies

Group Study Rooms

Geisel Library Building
Amenities/Features Policies/Details
  • Study rooms are available on 1st Floor West, 2nd Floor East, and Floors 5-7
  • Reserve study rooms in advance & see descriptions for each room within the reservation system
  • Room 2096A and 2096B on 2nd Floor East are the most accessible to those with disabilities
  • The Geisel Large Adaptive Study Space (GLASS), Room 721 on 7th Floor, accommodates up to 16 users with flexible furnishings and ample writable surfaces
  • Conversation permitted at volume that doesn’t disturb those in nearby rooms or outside areas
  • Quiet cell phone use permitted inside rooms
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies
Biomedical Library Building (BLB)
Amenities/Features Policies/Details
  • Study rooms are available on both 1st and 2nd Floors
  • Reserve study rooms in advance & see descriptions for each room within the reservation system
  • Room 105 and 110 on 1st Floor are the most accessible to those with disabilities
  • Conversation permitted at volume that doesn’t disturb those in nearby rooms or outside areas

Geisel: Active Learning Lab (ALL; 2nd Floor)

  • Room can be configured for individual study, multiple groups, one large group, or a mix
  • Small movable tables have writable surfaces
  • Electrical outlets & wireless
  • Wall-mounted, moveable, and individual whiteboards available

  • Conversation encouraged (at normal speaking volume)
  • Do not remove furniture or whiteboards from room
  • Room is not reservable
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies
Geisel Large Adaptive Study Space (GLASS; Room 721 on 7th Floor)

  • For group & social learning (ten small, movable, tables have writable surfaces)
  • Electrical outlets & wireless
  • Whiteboard wall and 16 personal whiteboards
  • See reservation system to reserve

Quiet Study/Seating

Geisel: Quiet Study Space (Floors 4-7)

  • All of Floors 4-7 are intended for individual, quiet study; 8th Floor is for silent study
  • Electrical outlets & wireless
  • Adjacent to library collections
  • Moderate conversation is permitted within group study rooms on all floors

  • Conversation discouraged
  • Cell phone use not permitted
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies
BLB: Quiet Study Space (Floors 1-2)

  • The entire BLB (Floors 1 & 2) is intended for individual, quiet study
  • Electrical outlets & wireless 
  • InfoStations and computers (PCs & iMacs) on 1st Floor
  • Moderate conversation is permitted within group study rooms on both floors

  • Conversation discouraged
  • Cell phone use not permitted
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies

Silent Study/Seating

Geisel: Silent Study Space (8th Floor)

  • All of 8th Floor is intended for individual, silent study
  • Electrical outlets & wireless 

  • Conversation not permitted; absolute quiet expected
  • Please silence cell phones
  • Food is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies

Media Viewing

Geisel: Media Viewing Stations (1st Floor West)
Amenities/Features Policies/Details
  • For individual or small group viewing of media reserves materials
  • Blu-Ray, DVD, VHS, & LP playback
  • Stations reserved for media playback (no studying)
  • Conversation permitted at volume that doesn't disturb those in nearby stations or outside areas
  • Food/Drink is not allowed. Users must follow the Use & Conduct Code and all other Library policies

Media Production/Editing

Geisel: Digital Media Lab (DML; 2nd Floor East)
Amenities/Features Policies/Details
  • For individual & group media production & editing
  • Staff available for consultation during open hours 
  • High-end Windows & iMac computers with Adobe & other software for video, audio, graphics, & web design
  • Free 3D printing
  • Scanners compatible with print & transparencies
  • For use by UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty
  • Conversation permitted
  • Computers & 3D printers are by reservation only
