FAST AT FORTY ACRES – KOUNS & LEWIS 1968

Because so many visitors – farmworkers and supporters – came to the Forty Acres to support Cesar Chavez during the time of his fast, it soon became necessary to provide an evening meal to feed the crowds.  The Delano Strikers mobilized and organized themselves to prepare, cook, and serve the food  and clean up afterwards. This daily food service became a major production and required a great deal of volunteer labor.
