An expressive piece of propaganda for the Republican side, images such as this stressed the unfair advantage given to the Nationalists through their military contacts and aid from abroad. The presence of Moroccan auxiliaries from the Army of Africa and German and Italian support allowed the Republicans to brand the notion of a "foreign invasion." In the top portion of the image, a gudari in traditional dress attacks mechanized artillery, likely meant portray German or Italian armaments. Below this, a Moroccan soldier - identified by his fez and scimitar - faces another grenade slinging gudari, also in traditional dress.
