Tech Lending FAQ
Where can I borrow tech items?
Checkout TLP items at Geisel Library and WongAvery Library's Front Desk. UC Library Search indicates where items are located. A valid UC San Diego ID is required.
How long do TLP items circulate?
TLP items circulate for 3 hours. Periods when the Hubs are closed (e.g., during holiday campus closures) do not count toward an item's check-out. For instance, an item checked out the day before the Thanksgiving closure will not be due back until the next Sunday. We will tell you exactly what time your item is due. If you forget, you may check your library account online. Recalls for these items are not permitted.
Can I renew my checkout for TLP items?
TLP items may not be renewed. If demand permits, items may be checked out again upon return. No items will be checked in or out without having the item and attached tag present.
Who can borrow TLP items?
This service is available only to currently-enrolled UC San Diego faculty, staff, and students.
Can I borrow a laptop from the Library?
The Library does not have laptops available for short-term loan. A limited number of laptops are available for a need-based quarter-length loan through a partnership between the Library, the bookstore, and The Hub Basic Needs Center. Applications open one week before the academic quarter begins on the Student Services Portal, and will be addressed in the order received. Once all laptops have been loaned for the quarter, the application will close. No renewals are possible. Please email techlending@ucsd.edu with questions.
